Brian Milligan is an accomplished commercial attorney
with twenty years of experience providing counsel to business clients.
He is a former CPA who approaches business issues with practical,
economical vision. Mr. Milligan represents many small and mid-sized
businesses, among them real estate developers, advertising agencies,
a computer technology company, a web site production company for
major motion pictures, a music download retailer and importers of
consumer goods. An increasing percentage of his clients’ transactions,
ownership groups and business operations are international in scope.
Mr. Milligan also represents Colorado’s largest Workers’
Compensation insurance carrier for whom he has provided extensive
business advice, and has negotiated and litigated the collection
of millions of dollars of insurance premiums.
Long-term client relationships allow Mr. Milligan
to anticipate and meet a broad spectrum of legal needs. While experienced,
capable and comfortable in state and federal courts, Mr. Milligan
now devotes most of his practice to the business needs of his clients.
Preventative problem solving is often preferable to litigation for
business clients. His practice encompasses contract preparation
and negotiation, entity creation, preparation of non-disclosure,
non-compete, non-solicitation, software and technology license agreements
and advising clients on employment and limited intellectual property
matters.
Mr. Milligan remains very active outside of the
law office. He has been involved in the Colorado Big Brothers Program
since 1993 and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of
Arapahoe House, Inc., after acting, for the past three years, as
the Board President. Arapahoe House is Colorado’s largest
non-profit business providing education and treatment for those
with alcohol and drug abuse issues. Mr. Milligan also serves on
the Board of Directors of the Colorado Lawyers Helping Lawyers Program.
In whatever time remains, Mr. Milligan, married and the father of
three young daughters, enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, mountain
biking and reading.
